Pertamina Commences Construction of RFCC CILACAP Project

President inaugurated the commencement of construction project groundbreaking RFCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Residual) Cilacap which is expected to reduce the import of petroleum and petrochemical products. Project RFCC (Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking) Cilacap is expected to operate commercially in late 2014.

To realize this project, PERTAMINA invested $ 1.4 billion USD. In addition, construction projects will increase the production of LPG RFCC as many as 352 thousand tons per year and will produce products of 142 thousand tons of propylene per year.

Propylene production is expected to increase the supply for domestic needs Petrochemicals Plastics Industry which has been dependent on imported. RFCC Cilacap is also part of the Government program Masterplan Economic Development Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia (MP3EI) associated with the development of energy infrastructure in order to enhance national energy security.

The project is in accordance with PERTAMINA plans to fuel self-sufficiency by 2018. Currently, PERTAMINA has six refineries with total crude oil processing capacity of about 1 Million Barrels per day and produces gasoline number 41 Million Kilo Liters per year consisting of: Premium 12 Million KL, Solar 18.3 Million, Kerosene 7 Million KL, and Avtur 3.3 Million KL. Meanwhile, the national need has now reached 56 million KL per year and continues to increase with an average consumption rate of 4% per year.

RFCC project that uses the licensor UOP Technology and AXENS Cilacap refinery will increase the capacity of 62.000 barrels per day. We have a total capacity of PERTAMINA’s refinery intake is 1 million barrels per day, with details; Cilacap 348,000 barrels per day, 260,000 barrels per day Balikpapan, Dumai 170,000 barrels per day, 125,000 barrels per day Balongan, Plaju 118,000 barrels per day and 10,000 barrels per Eunuch the day.

With the construction of RFCC, Cilacap refinery will be able to produce fuel, especially fuel-air high-octane and have higher quality (EURO Spec IV) as well as improving refinery margins Cilacap as overall. The project is expected to absorb around 6000-8000 labor and the use of local content (TKDN) reached 38% of the EPC contract value (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) or the equivalent of 320 million dollars.

With the value of local content such, are not directly intended to increase the economic growth of local communities, particularly around the project area RFCC RU Cilacap and encourage the growth of industrial and manufacturing enterprises in the country.

Project Blue Sky Cilacap, Central Crude Oil Terminal Lawe-Lawe Capacity 1 Million KL, RU III Plaju refurbishment project and the New Refinery Project Balongan II (JV KPI) and the New Refinery Project Java East (Saudi Aramco JV).

Through the implementation of these projects, PERTAMINA will be able to increase production of fuel before 41 million KL annually to 66.7 million KL per year.
