Founded in 1975, the ASEAN Council on Petroleum and Energy (ASCOPE) functions as a network for regional collaboration in all aspects of the petroleum industry among the member states of ASEAN.

Stands as an establishing document that created and defined the ASEAN Council on Petroleum and Energy today. The ASCOPE Declaration was signed on October 15, 1975, in Jakarta, to promote active collaboration and mutual assistance in the development and utilization of petroleum resources within Southeast Asia. Afterwards, the ASCOPE Charter was officially adopted at the 50th ASCOPE Council Meeting in Bangkok in October 2025, and reflects a "future-ready" organization.
